Downtown Harrisonburg Engagement Session | Harrisonburg, VA

Oh, it's raining. AGAIN. On Sunday we sat in our cousin's living room after a lovely lunch and watched the wind whip streaks of rain across the windows. We usually adore rainy days, but we had Charlotte and Adam's engagement session to do that afternoon! And it wasn't just a shower; it was a DOWNPOUR, and it had been pouring for days. There was massive flooding locally on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Creeks overflown, basements flooded and roads closed. Doesn't sound like an excellent day for an engagement session huh? Just wait, the story gets better. ;-)
Marlene kept track of the radar like a hawk, and it looked like the "days of Noah" rain was going to stop around four that afternoon. We watched the storm from a comfy couch and prayed that it would let up. We think God heard our prayers because the storm subsided right around 4 and we were blessed with gorgeous light! The clouds even parted for a bit, and we saw a little bit of sun!
The rain ended up being a blessing in disguise. Since things were a little wet, not many people were out, so we had downtown practically to ourselves. We strolled around downtown Harrisonburg looking for unique places (without mud) for the backdrop of their portraits. We found some unique locations and the photos turned out SO dreamy! This dashing couple was so natural and photogenic that we probably took wayyy too many pictures.
Charlotte and Adam, we loved working with you two! Thank you for being great supporters of our photography as well as great friends. We love the excitement you two share for this next stage of life and seeing the sparkle in your eyes as you look at each other gave us many smiles as we edited your session. We can't wait for your wedding!
